Oi, Omar.

The VORG interface is good, but there is a lot of bugs. Hope they can fix until tomorrow.. (but don't believe so). It would be great if someone can tell us wich NOOA winds will be used to VORG 2011-12.

Bons Ventos.

Does someone use the Firefox data import for VORG 11-12 ?

I tried to manage that on two different ways, but both without success

1. W7 and FF 8.0 plus HttpFox [as described in VR Tool and Firefox 4 (upgrade problem)]
when httpfox is activated FF creates a folder plugtmp in tree
c:\documents and settings\XXX\AppData\Local\ Temp\
( c:\user\XXX\AppData\Local\ Temp\ assume that's the same in W7, isn't it ?))
and fills the folder with followings files

plugin-getdata
plugin-gethull
plugin-gettrack
plugin-getwind
plugin-me -- every ten minutes a new plugin-me will be produced – 1, -2, 3 etc

XXX stands for current user name

so far so good, but
“Import data from Firefox cache” can’t find these files

2. the same problem with a further PC
installed XP and FF 3.6.23 ( found a download link http://www.chip.de/downloads/Firefox-3. ... 56268.html)

It was not so easy to find the cache, but we did it
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\XXX\Lokale Einstellungen\Temp\
assume in English it will be c:\documents and settings\XXX\local(settings)\Temp\
folder plugtmp with files

plugin-getdata
plugin-gethull
plugin-gettrack
plugin-getwind
plugin-me -- every ten minutes a new plugin-me will be produced – 1, -2, 3 etc

XXX stands for current user name

so far so B A D
“Import data from Firefox cache” can’t find these files

some hints would be helpful
thanks in advance

Hi Omar,

Great work with your VRTool software. You are extremely patient to make this work for so many different users.

I was wondering how we get Madagascar, the Saudi peninsula and India to show up as land. I'm starting to lay out my route for Leg 2 and the boat keeps going through Madagascar and cutting the corner on the Straits of Hormuz. Fast but even Volvo 70's can't fly!

Thanks,

MadDuck

I suppose you are talking about Weather Routing, right?
You can set WR to avoid land areas. In the WR module, check option [x]Land Collision Detection.
Click the "pink boat" button. This will bring the Land Collision Detection (CD) module.
Make sure you have a CD file loaded, such as monoBmpGSHHS_24k12k.bmp.
This is a large (24000x12000 pixels) one bit bitmap (distributed with the program).
Set chart origin to +90/-180 and corner to -90/+180

(File monoBmpGSHHS_24k12k.bmp is based on file d_gshhs_h.cht from vrtoutoulz.fr
a rasterization of GSHHS -Global Self-consistent Hierachical High-res Shoreline Database )
