After some investigation, I found that version 0.8.11 of httpFox
deletes the files from disk cache soon after they are downloaded (as pointed by mclean)
This version was posted to fix a memory leak in Firefox when httpFox is active
( see bug report
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747167 ).
In fact, it is easy to see that Firefox consumes a lot o memory when running
with previous versions of httpFox active for some time (a day or more).
Unfortunately this bug fix also breaks the boat data import method.
I have no solution for this problem at this time. I'm investigating other options,
because the the FF cache import method is now so contrived.
Any ideas are welcome
If you choose to stick with version 0.8.10 of httpFox, be aware that
this hogs your computer memory. Restarting FF at least once a day is
recommended to reclaim lost memory.
Steps to downgrade from httpFox 0.8.11 to 0.8.10:
- Select
Firefox > Add-ons from FF menu. Locate add-on
httpFox 0.8.11. Click [Remove]
- Disable automatic extension update ( in the
Add-ons Manager page, click the options button (the gear icon), uncheck
Update add-ons automatically )
- Download file
http://httpfox.googlecode.com/files/httpfox-0.8.10.xpi and save it.
- Drag httpfox-0.8.10.xpi from Firefox Downloads window and drop in FF main window. Restart Firefox.
Yeah, I know this is sick
