I made a couple changes to the program for compatibility with the
Vendée Globe 2012 (which starts tomorrow nov/10th).
I hope I didn't break anything, since it is been a while since a
last worked on vrtool.
The good news is that regatta rules now allow 3rd party programs
to download boat data directly from game server.
Section 4.1 of rules :
4.1 - ROUTING
• The routing is allowed.
• The use of applications to routing provided by a third-party, are allowed if they do not
send any data in any manner whatsoever to the game proposed by Many Players.
So you can download boat data into vrtool, as long as you don't use
that data to perform automatic control actions, which vrtool never did anyway.
This is nice, since the old Firefox cache import method is a mess
and requires many hacks to work.
To setup vrtool to download your boat data do the following:
0- Make sure you have vrtool version 2.06 installed.
1- Open Firefox and activate httpFox plug-in (you still need httpFox, but only to get the boat data URL. Once you get the URL, httpFox is no longer needed).
2- Navigate to the Vendée game application ( or reload it )
3- In the httpFox panel, locate the URL that looks like this:
http: // vendeeglobevirtuel.virtualregatta.com/core/Service/ServiceCaller.php?service=GetUser&id_user=123..&lang=EN&checksum=123456abcdef...
4- Right-click the URL and select "Copy http: //vendee..." This is the boat data URL, including your boat ID and checksum.
5- In vrtool, go to Boats tab. In the Boat Data group, locate the "Boat" edit box. Paste the complete URL in it (Ctrl-V)
6- Mark checkboxes [x]Auto update and [x]Update friends too
7- Click [get] button to test the download. After a few seconds, boat data should show below.
