chart convertion from .map into .cht format

Hi,
I’m a new user of VR tool, perhaps the newest. I installed it this morning and downloaded the GSHHS files translated to CHT format.
I’m now wondering if there exists software, a converter, to convert charts from .map format into .cht format.
Any answers from the forum would be highly appreciated.

All I want to do is convert my .map files for use in VRtool, not necessarily into .cht format.

cht is the only vector chart format supported at this time.

What about the .cid files?
I think VRTool can open .cid files.
Are there any charts in this format and could one convert a .map into a .cid file?

Or am I totally wrong?

What about the .cid files?

CID files are meta-data for raster charts
in image format (bmp, gif or jpg).
You can scan a paper chart and generate
a CID for it and render on the chart.
