There are two ways to get winds:

1- Locate wind files and load from browser cache. For Firefox it is:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\plugtmp-[ZZ]\plugin-meteo_XX_YY.xml

2- Use Bob Zhang's Grib2XML to convert uGrib .grb files to XML (tricky process :ugeek: )
These are approximations of game winds (not perfect) but you get up to 7 days.

I am glad to see most of you have got it working.
But given the fact that so many of us are still not able to get it going I would like to suggest that someone that was successful please take the time to explain in detail how to go about it.
I have the file suggested I believe see below I found 2 of them:

"http://clipper.virtualregatta.com/get_user.php?checksum=f723e1be6a32b6da2ad490b5351246639ca57b2d&pseudo=Neptune4x&clef=3de0a0bada1512fed4ccdeb161c705e1&version=7

GET /get_user.php?checksum=fca25a4b9508ff93d406f8fece27a1b99115d232&pseudo=Neptune4x&clef=3de0a0bada1512fed4ccdeb161c705e1&version=7 HTTP/1.1

if you have too much plugtmp-x directories, delete all of them then relaod the game.
You will easier find the one you want.

Just look at the date and time of the plugmp- file take the most resent one ( time of update game) ...open it...open; plugin-get_user; in word pad, copy all the content, hit past boat data xml...and then...hit add current pos to boat track.
It worked for me.

My question.. Can someone ex plane me how to get the polars working????

for the polars,
copy the csv file to your vrtool directory.
Check the default polar database
Copy the name of the file (with .csv) within the polars - or copy the full path
Check Interpolate between wind speeds
Clic apply (or vliadate) I don"t know as I have a french interface
Relaunch vrtool (don't forget to save your wind in a single file if you have multiple squares loaded)
