Re: VRTool 1.5 released

Postby Neptune » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:49 pm

I have the wind file from Bob Zhang's Grib2XML and it is loaded in VRTool in the Wind Grids box. It is 41n18w34n4w.XML file.

The source is shown as http://www.grib.us.

When I use "F2" to load it a new file shows up named meteo-10-50 - source volvogame.virtualregatta.com - Time = 2009-Jul-02 6:00:00

But no winds a shown on the screen

In the config box there is a section called Regatta setting at the moment it is blank should it be filled and where is the info coming from ?

You have to load the xml file, by pressing WINDS in the navigation bar and then click LOAD XML. Find the dir where you saved te file and load them one by one. ( correct me if i am wrong )

I gave a link in page 2.
After opening the page,
You have to clic "télécharger ce fichier".

The file is loaded properly, it was done by selecting WINDS in the menu bar and Choosing Load XML.......... from the folder it was save in by Grib2XML. I have done this for many month in VOR.

I used VRTool for may months during the Volvo Ocean Race and it was a wonderful program. It was easy to get all the information required without going here and there for this and that.

To me this had been a very disappointing exercise in futility. I eventually was able to load my boat but is will not track and keeps on disappearing the picture of the boat is not visible the way it was in the VOR and the wind does not load. I have not tried to add friends.

I hope all these issue will be resolved and a new updated version is available that works as the previous one. In the mean time I will sit on the sideline and wait and see. I can't spend that much time trying to figure it out, alter all it is just a game ;)

My suggestion is to go back to the way the VOR was set up

It is lik this because the developer have blocked third party access to the stream from the servers if I understand it? Nothing VR Tolool can do.

Hello from BobZhang

Postby bobzhang » Thu Sep 24, 2009 2:15 pm

Hi,

I am registering to say "hello" to the VRTool users. VRTool is great!! Thank you Omar.

Just to say I give up 3 months ago my participation to the MP Games. I am now on another virtual sail game that gives to me all that I was waiting for.

Hello for everyone and particularly for Omar.
